Elon Musk and Grimes have decided to give their baby name a slight tweak from “X Æ A-12” to “X Æ A-Xii”. The change to using Roman numerals did not was not explained by either Elon or Grimes.

The change was revealed via Instagram on Sunday after a follower asked the big question:
The news first broke about their child on May 4th; however, some pointed out that the name on the baby’s official California birth certificate wouldn’t be accepted as valid by the state of California, the location of Musk’s Tesla headquarters.
In an interview with People Magazine, a California family-law attorney state that the state does not allow symbols, numbers or Roman numerals on birth certificates. Child names must contain characters from the English alphabet. Hyphens are allowed, but the “Æ” character from the Latin language might cause the certificate not to be accepted, and the parents would have to resubmit it.
I mean it’s just X, the letter X, um, and the ‘Æ’ is pronounced, ‘Ash,’ and then, A-12 is my contribution.

He also went on to say that A-12 stood for “Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71, coolest plane ever.”
