Goodbye Evernote, OneNote, Notes, and hello Milanote!

You think I’m being dramatic? I’m not.

Hello, Milanote! This is an amazing tool for organising your creative projects into beautiful visual boards. “Created to replicate the feeling of working on a wall in a creative studio – visual, tactile and sometimes a bit messy”… but honestly, it’s what we’ve all wanted for a while.

Milanote comes with a lot of built-in templates to get started with a variety of different projects, from creating a moodboard to set out the visual direction for a project, to writing that perfect creative brief, perhaps even world building or character profile for game developers. Heck, there is a kanban board in here.

Mobile Integration

A lot of us are thinking on the go, constantly. We can’t help it – this natural urge to keep thinking. Milanote offers a great feature where you can add quick notes in their app, and you can retrieve it later from their website.

Browser Integration

This is a common feature, but Milanote has done it well. A very simple an easy to use browser extension allows using their “Web Clipper” functionality. This is more than just grabbing pictures though, you can fetch videos, audio, and most other useful snippets you require while planning.

Lets compare notes

We could compare Milanote to say, Evernote, but I honestly think they are two very different products. Evernote is the barebones basics. If anything, Milanote is what I wanted Evernote to be. We couldn’t start throwing a Milanote vs. Evernote battle here, because Evernote is simply just notes. Milanote on the other hand is more than just notes, it’s the one-stop-shop for everything. To me, Milanote is much more of a collaboration tool than simply notes.

Through its easy-to-use tools for notes, links, to-do lists, boards, columns, and the easiest comment functionality you have ever seen, it feels much more “fuller” and “complete” than competitors.

Thanks Milanote, you’ll see me around for a while. What are your thoughts? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
