SnapChat filters add AI Voice Search support with new “Voice Scan”

On Thursday we experienced the Snap Partner Summit, the company announced a range of new capabilities, one of these being Voice Scan. Now, Snapchat users can speak voice commands to search for lenses that change their appearance or the environment around them.

The feature comes through a partnership with the company SoundHound, which is providing the voice A.I. technology. SoundHound is powering Mercedes-Benz, Pandora, Kia, Honda, Hyundai, Motorola, and many other well known providers already.

“Hey Snapchat, take me to the moon” will change your surroundings as you requested.

Of course, you will still be able to use the original method of scrolling through filters. The example Snap gave in the presentation was “Make my hair pink,” which then surfaces a filter that — gasp — turns your hair pink. This is not only a cool fad but its actually a very efficient way to find a filter quickly.

Rolling out this week, you should see this in your SnapChat app by the end of next wek.
